Grand Worthy Advisor

Sarah Hamm
Grand Worthy Advisor 2025-2026

My name is Sarah Hamm, a proud member of Mount Joy Assembly #35, and honored to serve as the Grand Worthy Advisor of Pennsylvania Rainbow for 2025-2026.

A little bit about me: I’m 20 years old and a rising junior at Millersville University, majoring in Emergency Management with a minor in Government. On campus, I work as a Peer Educator for the Center for Health Education and Promotion, guiding fellow students in making healthy, safe choices. In the summers, I’m a day camp counselor with the Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation Center. When I’m not working or studying, I’m active at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Joy, where I serve as both a Vacation Bible School Leader and Sunday School Teacher. And when I find free time, you’ll likely find me outdoors, hiking with my five-year-old Dalmatian, Smokey.

My Rainbow journey began nearly ten years ago, at Autumn Days in Elizabethtown. I was eleven, walking through the booths with my mom and sister, when we stopped at the tables for the Masonic youth groups. One in particular stood out. This group was Pennsylvania Rainbow. That’s where I met the Grand Worthy Advisor at the time, whose crown and kind smile made her look every bit the princess. She and her officers welcomed me warmly, showing me scrapbooks filled with beautiful dresses, cherished memories, and joyful moments. From that day forward, I knew I wanted to be just like them.

That January, I officially joined Rainbow at a Grand Officer weekend at Patton Campus. A few years later, in February 2020, I was installed as the first Worthy Advisor of Mount Joy Assembly #35. Since then, Rainbow has shaped my life in ways I could have never imagined. I’ve had the privilege of serving in five state-appointed Grand Offices, each offering new lessons, unforgettable experiences, and lifelong friendships.

It’s the friendships I’ve made within Rainbow and across our “Power Five” family that have made me who I am today and prepared me to step into this role. So, I thought what better way to celebrate these friendships than to dedicate my theme to them. This year, Pennsylvania Rainbow is ready to let Friendship Take Flight, with my new mascot, Dumbo the Elephant, and his friends by our side, reminding us of the love, laughter, and loyalty that true friendship brings.

For those unfamiliar with the movie, Dumbo is a beloved 1940s Disney classic about a baby elephant born with the biggest ears the world had ever seen. Because of his unusual feature, Dumbo was teased by animals and humans alike. After being separated from his mother, he felt lost and alone until he met Timothy Q. Mouse, a tiny but fiercely loyal friend.

Timothy not only defended Dumbo from his bullies but also believed in him when no one else did. With Timothy’s encouragement and the confidence of a “magic feather,” Dumbo learns to fly, proving that friendship and belief can turn our greatest insecurities into soaring strengths.

To complement our theme, I’ve chosen 1 John 4:7 as our verse: “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.”

My colors are baby elephant blue and roundtop red. My flower is the yellow sunflower, just like they turn to follow the sun, they symbolize friends who stick by your side through every season. My song is “Thank You for Being a Friend” from “The Golden Girls” by Andrew Gold.

My symbols are magic feathers, bubbles, and hot air balloons. I chose the hot air balloon since it also symbolizes the charity I have chosen for this year, in addition to our state charity, the My Stuff Bags Foundation, we will be raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network. The Children’s Miracle Network is a nonprofit organization that raises funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada, including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Penn State Health Children’s Hospital, both of which are nationally ranked children’s hospitals located right here in Pennsylvania.

Children’s Miracle Network’s mission to “Change Kids’ Health and Change the Future” goes beyond raising critical funds for pediatric equipment, research, and treatments. They also serve to ease the emotional, financial, and logistical burdens on families by providing financial assistance to cover costs that insurance doesn’t, as well as dedicated ChildLife and Family support programs. Children’s Miracle Network doesn’t just fund hospitals; they fuel hope for families, and I can’t wait to see the part PA Rainbow plays in impacting these families this coming year.

And of course, with a theme about friendship, I’d like to encourage all of our girls to bring in new friends! So, this year, any girl who first-line signs two or more petitions or second-line signs three or more will receive one of Timothy’s Tiny Treat Bags, filled with small prizes like water bottle stickers, friendship bracelets, and circus-themed sweets. The girl who signs the most petitions will receive a Dumbo plush of her very own.

Before we take off to embark on this year’s Rainbow journey, I’d want to thank the people who helped me get to where I am today. First, I’d like to thank my parents for always encouraging me and supporting me.

My mom has always been my biggest supporter. From encouraging me to join Rainbow in the very beginning to standing beside me during moments of uncertainty, her presence has been a constant source of strength. Whether she was dropping me off at my first Patton weekend or helping me prepare for each step of this year’s interview process, she’s been with me throughout every chapter of my Rainbow journey.

My dad’s quiet strength and unwavering reliability gave me the confidence to step forward, knowing I could always count on him no matter what.

And to the rest of my family, your love and support have meant so much throughout this journey. The fact that you traveled all the way to Altoona to be at my installation reflects just how lucky I am. My little sister Sheridyn has been along for the ride since day one, and having her by my side makes this moment all the more special. I hope she enjoys this coming year as much as I know I will.

Thank you to the senior and junior grand executives for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to lead Pennsylvania Rainbow this year.

To my Advisory Board and my Assembly, thank you for building something beautiful. Your dedication made Mount Joy Assembly and the Mount Joy Buds Pledge Group possible, and I’m so proud to be part of it.

To Mrs. Snedden, thank you for all you do, for PA Rainbow, for Mount Joy, and for me. I’m thrilled to be traveling this year by your side.

I want to give a special thank you to my friends Jeanette and Allison. My first friends in Rainbow and still two of my closest friends today. I love you so much, and I’m so glad to call you my sisters. Thank you to you and your families for always letting me tag along and for treating me like one of your own. Jeanette, congratulations on an amazing year. You truly helped PA Rainbow Escape the Ordinary, and your impact is unforgettable.

To my fellow Grand Officers, congratulations! It’s an honor to serve with you. And to every member of Pennsylvania Rainbow, I am beyond excited to spread our wings and watch as Friendship Takes Flight across the Commonwealth.

I hope to see everyone next year at Pennsylvania’s grand assembly July 8-12th in Altoona, PA.

Respectfully submitted,
Sarah Hamm
